From Fear to Love: How to Survive in This Time of Uncertainty
Sudden changes create uncertainty and we are in a period of rapid and unpredictable change. These changes can move you from clarity to uncertainty, from a sense of safety to unpredictability or vulnerability, and from feeling love (or peace) to fear.
You may be noticing this pattern in yourself, those around you and the world at large. It is like we are all currently riding the Rollercoaster of Life – your whole body alive with peak excitement in one moment and the next, fear and nausea with no sense of landing. The common theme on social media is “What bad thing can happen next?” and “When will this year end?”
The continuum flows from fear on one end of the scale to love or peace on the other.
The continuum flows from fear on one end of the scale to love or peace on the other. What I am talking about are your experienced emotional states. Fear, sadness, anxiety (worry) and anger are emotions, as are joy, peace and love. Emotions are not necessarily based upon facts, but rather what you tell yourself about what is happening to you and around you. Because of this, if you control your thoughts, you can control your emotions.
The first step is to recognize that change or unpredictability is happening. Before establishing an emotional reaction (or putting it ‘on hold’ if you can), follow this step by step list of approaches.
Coast or Pause. Breathe. Re-visit what you know to be true such as ‘this isn’t something I created’, ‘I may not know all the facts’, ‘I can trust those I love to not intend me harm’, or ‘I can hold the space for (observe) this’, ‘this isn’t about me’. You can also question where you are on the fear/love continuum with questions such as, ‘am I practicing PATIENCE (the word for September)’, ‘staying present’, or ‘getting ahead of the facts’? Let time work for you, not against you. Try not to act too quickly as it will create patterns of thoughts and then emotions that may cloud the situation or even prevent you from being effective, staying out of fear and/or staying grounded.
Do what you can to gather accurate information. Remember, FEAR is the acronym for False Evidence Appearing Real. Base your choice of approach or action on facts. Get second opinions. Research possible explanations for events. Dig deeper and look below the surface for the truths. Ask for evidence. Ask if it is even important for you to be involved or invested (especially emotionally). When all else fails, go back to #1 and give it more time.
Trust yourself and your guides/spirit/nature/the Divine. You have been training for this challenging time your whole life. Where do you place your faith and trust? Are you letting the unseen guides help you – or do you insist on doing it all yourself? Your life is charmed by design to bring you all that you desire. We are the only hurdles in the way to receiving our greatest gifts. Reiterate what you believe and what you want to manifest for yourself. Is it love or fear? Peace or anger? Trust or anxiety?
Look for the joy, laughter and love in your life and in the world around you. Sometimes it is but an instant or moment of joy. Highlight what these moments are in your life. Cut yourself some slack and allow the joy to have some room in each day. The more you are committed to seeing it, the more it manifests. Or, said a bit differently, what you invest your energy in, you actually create more of.
Life is very challenging right now. We have all kinds of losses to deal with – both individually and collectively. Examples include:
Income security
Housing security
Work/employment security
Educational security
Health security
Self-Identity or through associations
Friends/Family or loved ones (either by proximity or completely)
Predictable outcomes to your actions
Weather predictability or security (fires, tornadoes, hurricanes, temperature shifts or extremes, etc.)
An ability to travel freely
The nature of change (and growth) is a breakdown of ‘what was’ to make room for ‘what will be’. Know what kind of world you want to live in so that you can empower, recognize and create it. We have amazing Quantum Potential when we recognize our interconnectedness as life forms on this physical planet possessing spiritual and energetic frequencies of consciousness.

Even when you don’t see how you impact changes on the outside (in the world, or in how you experience life through your interactions), you can quickly impact changes on the inside (how you talk to yourself, what you believe about yourself and how you identify your personal experiences). We say in energy medicine that we dis-ease from the outside in and heal from the inside out. This describes the process of healing personally and letting the outer world reflect (or manifest) that as a mirror.
Use this meditation video (to the right) to visit your Special Inner Sacred Space, which is described as a Sacred Garden. Here you can rest and relax, be rejuvenated and/or receive guidance from the Divine or access your inner knowing.
The movement from fear to love IS something you can do that has profound and lasting impact on your life and by changing your stance, you also impact others.
Think of this journey of self-discovery as one of anchoring joy, peace and love in the world through the choices you make each and every day. We ALL benefit from the work each of us does personally to anchor more love and joy. Think of our collective growth as a hard-earned vacation from fear with heaps of frequent flyer points for future peace and love.
May the force of joy be with you!
Many blessings,
Janna
