LET FREEDOM RING!
A lot of collective discussion and action is happening in the US right now as we approach July 4th, Independence Day. Some of it is rigid and dug into the ‘status quo’ and some (quite a bit) is calling for change.
Astrologically we in the US are experiencing a Pluto Return, which means we are revisiting the same planetary formations that existed when our country was founded.
This marks a new chapter in US history and we are in the process of groundbreaking changes, collectively, and on a personal level as well. Things that were once hidden are coming out of the shadows (economic uncertainty, changes in career or relationship, issues with your physical body).
What leads a group of people to literally fight for independence? What can you no longer accept to the point that you are willing to fight for change?
I think what is happening must be faced, we must be conscious to it – instead of complacent or oblivious. This means we need to feel touched by what is happening in the world around us in order to bring about change.
How do you feel touched by the inequalities and challenges of today? Do you feel trapped by a system designed to benefit others – but not you? How does this express for you personally?
Autonomy over choices and opportunities?
Financially?
Politically?
Our country is sold to us based upon long held (but not upheld) ideals of fairness, autonomy, the American dream (hard work pays off), and equality. But those ideas do not hold for all. They were designed and still hold for corporations (landholders), the rich, and white men.
If you are in these groups – your rule is ending.
If you have been held down, kept poor, manipulated, ignored, abused, or marginalized – your rule is coming.
Both sides need to consider this next Independence Day carefully. What do you want the future US of A to look like? Be like? Profess as its values? What will be the legacy of this change?
How do we right the wrongs such that we don’t recreate through anger and hurt more of the same?
My mom was known for many sayings we call ‘momisms’. She said many times, “The only thing that changes are the faces – the problems stay the same.” I hope this doesn’t ring true for the future of our country.
Let us consider how we would like our country to change, in order to become more congruent with our long-held ideals.
We are each magical, unique, harmonies of spirit.
We each have gifts and purpose that can contribute to a greater national expression. How do we nurture, support, embrace and empower our best gifts (our people) within a body of government for the people?
I recently noticed the commercials while watching the hockey playoffs and Stanley Cup competitions. They emphasized the ‘WE’ of teamwork as opposed to the individual athlete.
WE THE PEOPLE as a statement is incredibly powerful and, of course, inclusive. Not one of us wants to be on the outside looking in (isolated or shut out). We want to be seen, heard, and valued.
Together we are recreating the country around us. Let’s envision and fight for something grand!
