Finding Abundance in the Good Times and the Hard Times
Welcome to 2025. I hope that 2024 was all that you wanted it to be and more. While many of us are looking forward to the year ahead and creating goals, I didn’t feel called to talk about resolutions this month.
When I was reflecting on the theme for this blog, I used my angel cards, and I found exactly what I needed to talk about.
Abundance.
Abundance is a wonderful word. The universe often sends this word to me, and I’ve learned to simply listen to and accept it with open arms.
Over the past few months, I have been reminded of how abundant my life is. When I think of abundance, I think of the gift I have in my family, friends, health, and ability to travel. I don’t think that I am abundant in money, yet I continually receive the message not to worry about finances.
I recently traveled to Peru and Chile with a group of friends. My vacation came in the middle of several large and surprising expenses. A week before the trip, a pipe broke, and I had to call an emergency plumber. The plumber noticed that my water heater was leaking and needed to be replaced. Only a few days later, I got a flat tire and needed to buy a new one.
Then, it was time for my vacation. It was an expense I planned for, but a large one nevertheless. We took on the planning and travel arrangements, but we left the local tours we would join to chance. While we were in Ollantaytambo, Peru, a gentleman introduced himself to us as Emerson. He helped us to our hotel and offered his services as a guide. We passed on the offer to keep our options open.
Emerson returned the next morning to once again offer his services. We decided to accept his generosity. He took us to the Temple of the Condor and showed us where the king had lived and the shaman’s room. Emerson revealed that he was a descendant of shamans and was studying to be one himself.
It was already a special place, but then a condor flew above us! We all spent several moments in gratitude for such a reverent sighting, even Emerson, who had never seen one before. He then gave us an energy treatment. As I reflect on this trip and my experiences, the one word that comes up is abundance.
When I returned home and picked up my car, which I had kept at my sister’s in the country, my battery light came on. Rats had chewed through many of the cables. I was able to drive a loaner while the mechanics fixed my car, but in the back of my head, all I could hear was ka-ching, ka-ching, ka-ching.
I was worried when I sat down to pay all my bills and pay taxes. Despite my fears, every time I paid a bill, I had enough money in my account to pay the next one. This was an abundance in my life and a message that I didn’t have to worry about my finances.
Not only was I abundant in my finances to cover these expenses, but I had so much to be grateful for. The plumber who helped me was a friend that I could rely on to fix leaks and tell me I needed a water heater before it broke completely. The dealership had a loaner car, so I wasn’t stranded 50 miles away from home.
Gratitude and abundance go hand-in-hand.
Even when we face obstacles, there is always abundance to be found in our lives. Look at the love you have for family and friends, your health, and your ability to live how you want to live. There is always a silver lining to be had in hardships.
There is always something to be grateful for.
Here’s to a year full of blessings and accepting all the abundance we have in our lives.
