2020 Ends—What Gifts Lie Ahead? — Energy Medicine Specialists

The end-of-year holidays are upon us. They look unusual this year, but our hearts still want to connect with the traditions, sounds, sights and with each other’s hearts in the ways we have previously. It feels different and will be different this year as some of us have lost dear ones, a lifestyle, job, or ideology (faith). My heart holds tenderness for all of yours. We are on this path together, always.

How are you making this year’s honoring similar or different from your usual holiday celebrations?

I have a decorated tree and lights on the house as I have in other years, but I didn’t unpack all the boxes and decorate as thoroughly as I usually do. I am baking, but not like my inner Martha Stewart thinks is appropriate. It feels simpler this year and because I am not socializing as in past years, it feels like everything I’m doing is just for my husband and me. I find that I feel less rushed and more appreciative of the moments: listening to a song, drinking a cup of cocoa by the fireplace, staring out a window at the changing light, or reading a Christmas card. I’m even noticing the angle of the sun this time of year, which I’ve missed in years past.

I bet we can agree that 2020 has been a year of isolation and introspection! We’ve had to move away from face-to-face interactions and gatherings, and even forego hugs for safety. The energy and purpose of 2020’s pandemic has been to encourage us to go within and find our truth, evaluate systems and how they serve (or don’t) and assess whether they need to be rebuilt or even replaced. By ‘systems’ I mean collective patterns like our politics, healthcare, education, business, finance, and historically white patriarchy. 2020 was dominated by Saturn in Capricorn.

On December 17th, Saturn moves into Aquarius and the energy is likely to be felt for several weeks. We move from an earth sign (Taurus) to an air sign – meaning from a physical focus into that of ideas. Under Aquarius, we will set about to break down, change or innovate whatever we discovered that wasn’t working. Aquarius is about freedom and we are being guided from our introspective analysis of last year to hold space for a revolution of sorts that can move us all more fully into a collective ‘we’. It comes at a time when we are probably the most aware of our divisions.

As we move from 2020 to 2021, we are astrologically entering the Age of Aquarius. This ‘age’ is said to be a period of over 2,000 years, but I am mostly referring to the predominant influence of Capricorn from the Winter Solstice on 12/21/2020, when it is conjunct (or appears in the same place in the sky) with Jupiter, at zero degrees – which is a doorway or opening. Food for Thought as We Enter 2021

How can you practice holding space for yourself without judgment? To do so allows for a true self-autonomy or expression. How might you envision being present for change to happen in the collective good, without judgment?

Are you being asked (in your personal growth work) to be more of an observer or an influencer? An extension of great personal work is the contribution to the collective or the community. The revolution within fuels the revolution of change and ideas in the outer world. Welcome to the Age of Aquarius! Great change through great vision is upon us.
