3 Energetic Self Care Tips You Can Do During Challenging Times

WTF is happening in the world right now? Why am I feeling lost, tired and sad?

These are very trying times. The world around us is changing – actually, much of what we thought was true about our society is dissolving and what we feared about ‘being separate’ is being realized. It seems there are no safety nets for people anymore, only corporate entities.  We are isolated in our homes, but in many other ways as well, divided by countries, races, beliefs, politics, etc. Now is the time to ask yourself, “Who am I? What is this new world I will emerge from isolation to find? Will it reflect and support me better?”

Our world has been getting energetically sicker.

Systems, such as our political system and our healthcare system have failed in the job of taking care of us. Energetically, if we look at how we identify being honored – how has the old world honored or dishonored you? If change is imminent, (and it certainly is) what do you want this new world/energy to reflect?

In order to be honored within a larger system you first need to honor yourself. Self care encompasses many approaches to reclaiming and maintaining your best self. Energetic Self Care includes keeping your energy body expression clear and highly functioning. In order to embrace change on a grand scale, you must first embrace it personally and this comes from taking an inner inventory.

How are you feeling?

What are you personally dealing with regarding isolation and change? Do your thoughts wear you down or build you up? Having good boundaries or knowing where your energy ends and another’s begins, gives you a defined space within which to exist. In this space of ‘I’, is there love or self-judgement, critique, or unworthiness? How do we envision a world of self love with respect for all? Self Love reflects the energy of the world I would like to live in when I walk back out my door.

Energy Self Care Work Sheet:

  1. Energetic Self Care – Who am I? What needs to change to create a better world for me? Do the world and others drag me down or build me up?

  2. Take A Personal Inventory – Where is my energy self out of balance physically (health, exercise, sleep), emotionally (fear, grief, loss, anger), mentally (am I my own worst critic?) and/or spiritually (where do I replenish, have faith and who do I trust)? What changes are needed for me to feel honored in the world? Where do I not honor myself? What is the support system within and around me?

  3. Engage Healthy Boundaries and Practice Self Love – When you are letting others be energized by connection with you (they feel better and you feel worse), or when you have no buffer to the events and energies around you, your boundaries are not secure. To reinforce your boundaries, imagine a circle as big around as your arms outstretched. Can you feel or intent yourself fully into this space? Breathe out and allow anything that doesn’t serve you or isn’t yours to fall off you and into the earth. Expand to fill this container to the very edge with your breath in, drawing in from the Divine or Life Source all that you need. To practice self-love place your hands over your lungs or higher chest. With your breath say, “I breathe in LOVE. I breathe out fear (or anger, grief, etc.)”
